"The environment here is very cozy and welcoming. The people are friendly and the space carries a family like atmosphere. What more can you ask for from a yoga community. I look forward to more visits." - Pandit Dasa
"The best yoga classes I've ever taken. Teachers are consistently great, combining a wonderful social atmosphere and good teaching. I highly recommend this yoga studio. I feel lucky to have such a great place so close to home. Thanks to Ella and the other yoga teachers." - K.M.
Jai is an all around wonderful studio. It is a great size, a great light space with high ceilings and good vibes, and a loving community with fantastic teachers. From my first class at Jai I was hooked and yoga soon became a very important part of my life. Their style of yoga is unique and a great combination of flow and ashtanga, always with meditation and a short discussion on the studio's "theme" at the beginning of class. The teachers are helpful and professional and provide individual attention always. In addition to a regular class schedule, they often offer evening or weekend workshops on a variety of topics with dancers, monks, fellow yogis, gardeners. Plus the studio is highly affordable!. - Whitney Yang
My favorite studio in Brooklyn by far (and I've tried them all)! I Love coming here to escape the craziness of a busy day. I found Jai when I first moved to Bushwick over a year ago, but after two successive moves farther and farther out of the neighborhood, I still keep coming back to this amazing studio. . The classes are great and the teachers and students form a great community. I look forward to the days I can get to class, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a regular studio to call home.
(PS it also helps that they also have some of the best intro and monthly deals around!!! Honestly, its not hard to wonder why Yoga gets a bad rap for being an elitist form of meditation and exercise when you start shopping around New York's many yoga studios!!) - Nick Salmons
I had been thinking about yoga teacher training for years, but the right time and place eluded me. After taking Ella's class at Jai, I knew I had found the studio for me. It just felt right, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made! The program took us on a journey that included history, philosophy, asana, adjustments, anatomy and meditation. I never imagined that I could get so much out of 200 hours...it brought light to my life, and deepened my practice in a beautiful way. I would highly recommend Jai's program to anyone who has a desire to teach, or just to learn more about something they love. By the end, I felt ready and excited to share my practice with others :) - Erin Brownell
Jai Yoga arts is a close knit studio with great community and teachers that welcome you with open arms. The studio is conveniently located off the Morgan L stop with class times for everyone as well as fun workshops and events! Their teachers are compassionate and classes bring a challenge to all levels of practitioners. I would suggest this studio for anyone looking for a great place to practice and learn. - Lauren Chandler
I commute from the UES to this studio as many times a week as possible—Jai is worth it. Ella has a practical, often hilarious take on life and yoga that is refreshing and encouraging. Asana instruction from all the teachers is nuanced and informative and has given me room to grow. Jai becomes family. Your practice will thank you. - Zoe Schaeffer
Ella (the owner and senior teacher at Jai) has made such a powerful positive impact on my yoga practice. The first time I took her class I literally got chills! (In a good way.) She has given me an incredible sense of freedom and power in my practice. She teaches students to take the normal poses and sequences of yoga and inject them with breath, life force, movement, and exploration. Her teaching style is earnest and open, and teaches students to be the same. - Mara Mayer
